Fisheries Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Recent announcements:

(1) “GISFish” is a Global Gateway to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing and Mapping for Aquaculture and Inland Fisheries. GISFish is a brand new Web site of the Aquaculture Conservation and Management Service (FIMA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and a number of collaborating institutions. GIS Software

ESRI - ArcInfo & ArcView are industry GIS standards.
ERDAS - used for remote sensing. 

GRASS GIS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) is a GIS that operates in the UNIX environment through a graphical user interface and shell in X-Windows. It is released under GPL.  European Mirror Site.

SPRING - is a free mapping program for Windows.
